Simultaneous interpretation is likely to be introduced in the Legislative and Urban Councils carly next year.
Announcing this yesterday, a Government spokesman said: ・This is one of the recommendations made by the Chinese Language Committee that Government is implemen- ting.”

T. Pilley, the simultaneous interpretation expert, returned to Hongkong in August to help select potential interpreters and conducted for them a one-week intensive tranining course.
"A number of potential candidates have been found and they are being trained in the terminology of the Legislative and Urban Councils before appointment," he said.
The spokesman said that design of booths for simultaneous interpretation has been completed and
