Significantly the Chinese Language Campaign marks the participation of the younger generation of Chinese in Hong Kong (with the active support of overseas Chinese students) in local affairs. Any further delay of the Govern- ment will only lead to a loss of confidence in the authorities and will only invite troubles to all parties concerned. I hope you would agree that an enlightened and liberal attitude of the Hong Kong and British Governments is essential in the promotion of the wellbeing of the community at large.
