cotton textiles.

I am very sorry that I have not

an earlus &chnowledgment, but

been in a position to send you a reply seener, I have brought your latter to the notes of those concerned there.

As you know, we had talks on this subject

with Philip Haddon-Cave and Eric/Ho on 6 and 7

December. We had a useful exchange of views and

it was agreed that we should have further talks in

the week beginning 10 January in order to examine

in more detail the implications of the decision

for Hong Kong's trade in cotton textiles with the

UK.

During these further talks we will of

course have Hong Kong's interests as a major

supplier of cotton textiles to the British market

very much in/mind.
