It will not cut imports back, but will provent

them from increasing to disruptive levels.

WILL THIS BRING HORE EMPLOYMENT IN LANCASHIRE?

The Government recognise that tho process of ·

streamlining the cotton and allied textile

industry must continue if a viable and competitive industry is to emerge but the measuro just

announced should remove the main threat to

Lancashire textile jobs that has been lain ia

the disruption from imports that could otherwise

have happened next yeзr.

3. WHY HAS THE GOVERNMENT LEFT TAKING THIS DECISION

SO LATE?

The Government have been watching the situation

closely for some time. It is only in the last

few weeks that the combination of circumstances

has arison which have led them to this decision.
