VISIT TO LONDON OF MR CATER AND MR DORWARD (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, HONG KONG)

1. Mr Cater and Mr Dorward will be arriving on the morning of Thursday 28 January. Mr Jones from Geneva and Mr Dodge from Brussels will also be arriving the same day. Mr Cater and Mr Dorward will be returning to Hong Kong early on the morning of Tuesday 2 February.

2. I have arranged through the Hong Kong Government Office for Mr Cater to give me a ring when he arrives. I shall then tell him what we have arranged for them

Call on Sir L Monson and Mr Wilford, in the former's room.

Talks on Hong Kong and the EEC in DTI under Mr Denman's Chairmanship.

Mr Hannay is coming from Brussels for the talks. I shall attend.

? Call on Mr. Rippon

Talks with DTI on textiles (Mr Carey in the Chair). I shall probably attend

these talks as well.

The DTI are arranging lunch for Mr Cater and Mr Daward on Friday the 29th. Mr Carey will probably give them lunch on the Monday.

Mr Cater has also asked if he could see Mr Royle. checking to see if Mr Royle can fit this into his engagements.
