Mr Mason (EID(1))
BRIEF FOR THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE AE MEETING ON 25 OCTOBER
We spoke. I told you that, together with
ܕ܂
Mr Simmons, we had made comments on the probable FCO line the meeting in advance of receiving the draft brief enclosed with your minute of 21 October to Mr Simmons. I explained that Mr Burns would be in contact with you on some detailed changes to reflect the GPS points and Mr Suedandon India. The only additional point I would make is that the present paragraph 9(a) of the draft brief does not express strongly enough the need for our Minister to make it clear that there is no going back now (and hopefully not before 1 January 1973) on the intended tariff policy.
