This item was only notable for a suggestion, probably inspired by the Secretariat, from Hanemann (FRG) that the Trade Committee should be doing something unspecified to ensure that the activities of such OECD bodies as the Environment and Consumer Policy Committees did not create trade problems. sceptical com ents about the vagueness of this suggestion led the Chaiman to sun-up that the Trade Committee should have a "deeper" discussion, probably in the autumn, on the subject wit the aid of a paper from the Secretariat. It was also not yet time for the Committee to ask its working party to look at the "problen" posed by the FRG delegate though it need not necessairly be excluded from a preliminary discussion of the note to be drafted by the Secretariat.
