US TRADE POLICY BRIEF FOR MR RIPPON: ADDENDUM

1.

In consultation with Mr Rippon's private office, we have prepared the enclosed addendum to the US Trade Policy brief, since he may wish to raise in Washington the issue of Hong Kong's inclusion in the American generalised preference scheme.

2. I should be grateful for telephonic comments as soon as possible, and in any case, not later than lunchtime tomorrow Friday, 26 February, as Mr Rippon wishes to study the briefs over the weekend. There will of course always be the oppor- tunity to introduce any subsequent essential amendments early next week when the US Trade Policy brief is updated in the light of developments on the agricultural levies front.
