Subject to the following comments, I have no
objection to the proposals for relaxing the
conditions for the employment of women at night
contained in your Savingram No.361 of 11 May.
2. I attach importance to the continued
inspection of industrial premises before a permit
is issued and to subsequent inspection during night
hours. It is assumed that inspection during night
hours will be carried out by Factory Inspectors
as well as by Labour Inspectors from time to time.
3. Since proposal to extend the scheme is already
known on a wide basis, there has no doubt been
some consultation with employers' and workers'
representatives without adverse reaction. It would
