(iv) Overall Assessment
Korea is small but important both as a divided
country in which there is a continuing risk of
war, and strategically as a buffer against
communist expansion down the Korean peninsula
towards Japan.
Following the boom years the domestic economy
is going through a difficult period but there are
plenty of opportunities for British exporters.
The post has said that lack of information support
is a limiting factor to the expansion of commercial
activities. They recommend putting out trade
promotional material in Korean, using a local
translation agency and printer. We propose to
look into this.
