(iv) General assessment
Our application for membership of the EEC has
given the information section in New Zealand a
major task, which it appears to be performing
very competently. The somewhat parochial
outlook of the New Zealanders tends, quite apart
from the Economic implications, in any case to
encourage an unusual absorption in, and often
criticism of, UK affairs, in the correction of
which the information operation is frequently
involved. It is therefore likely to be more
than fully occupied for some time to come.
