9. Mr Collins advised that the most interesting work was being done at:- various places in Australia, and in particular the New South Wales Institute of Technology in Sydney, where in addition to other facilities technical

He thought education by television was being carried out. that the queensland Institute of Technology in Brisbane and the institute in Melbourne were also of great interest.

He thought highly of the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok.

He had heard very good reports of the Hiati Institute of Technology, and also of technical institutes and training for industry in Japan, but he had no first hand experience of either country. He promised to make urgent enquiries as his belief was that these too were probably most relevant to Hong Kong's needs,

10. There is nothing to be done meanwhile about planning for visits outside the UK. With regard to the June/July programme in the UK perhaps you would get in touch in due course with Mr Collier and Mr Collins, Mr Gilbert said he would have someone get in touch with you about who in the Ministry of Environment would undertake the briefing. Perhaps you could then fix up dates any time after 12 June that is mutually convenient.
