Hongkong's next Governor to be named soon

London is expected to announce before the end of the week, the ap- pointment of Mr. C. M. MacLehose, British Ambassador to Denmark since 1969, as the next Governor of Hongkong.

Mr. MacLehose, who will be 53 on Friday, began his diplomatic career in the British Consulate in Hankow, where he served from 1947 to 1949.

Postings to Prague, Wellington and Paris followed, leading even- tually to an appointment in Hong- kong where he held the position of Political Adviser between 1959 and 1962.

In 1963 he became Counsellor at the Foreign Office and from 1965 to 1967 was Principal Private Secrs- tary to the Secretary of State.
