INTRODUCTION

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster visited Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand in the autumn of 1970. He visited Hong Kong from 11 to 14 September, Australia from 15 to 17 September and New Zealand from 17 to 22 September. His purpose in each case was to discuss the special problems of these countries arising from the British application for membership of the European Economic Community. He was accompanied by a Private Secretary and was joined in New Zealand by Sir Con O'Neill.
