UK Contribution to Airport Development

The new Government in UK is at present looking into many

problema such as this. The United Kingdom economy has still

some way to go before it can be regarded as satisfactory and

we will have to consider carefully all demands on our resources.

British Interest

2. Her Majesty's Government are of course concerned in the

airports being maintained to adequate international standards.

Its value both to Hong Kong and the United Kingdom is fully

appreciated by us.

Control of Traffic Rights

3. Traffic rights, being covered by international air services

agreements, are negotiated by Her Kajesty's Government who are

responsible for Hong Kong's external affairs. The interests

of Hong Kong will of course be an important factor in negotiations

over traffic rights and we shall continue to consult the Hong

Kong Government in all negotiations which affect their interests.
