STEWART DISAPPOINTS

WO URBAN Councillors said today they were "very disappointed" that Hong- kong would not have Urban Council reforms soon as announced by Foreign Secretary, Michael Stewart, yesterday.

They are Mr Peter P.K. Ng and Mr Henry Hu. Mr Ng said: "We should have the Urban Council reforms. I am very disappointed that it is taking so long to get them.

"I think a decision, one way or another, should be made to let people know the feeling of the

Government on this issue,"

Mr Henry Hu said: "It is not right that Hong- kong will not have the reforms the Urban Coun- cil has been asking for.

"Since we have economic prosperity, we can

afford the reforms. This is a great disappoint- ment to me.

"It is obvious to me that Hongkong certainly will not have reforms until after the next Governor has been appointed,'

Not great surprise

But Urban Councillor, Mr R.H. Lobo said it was not a great surprise to him "I didn't ex- pect it," he said.

Mr Lobo said Hongkong could get the reforms

in time but how long nobody really knows.

"Reforms are taking place," Mr Lobo said. "But they are happen- ing without much pub-

licity.

"There is the work- man's holidays, and other labour laws. These are reforms.
