There is considerable feeling in Hong Kong,
particularly among our industrialists and merchants, that
Britain's entry into the Common Market will have a serious
effect on the well-being of our economy.
Would you
comment on this, please?
ANSWER:
It is not possible at this stage to foretell in any
detail how the position of Hong Kong may be altered by
Britain's entry into the Common Market. I can assure you
that we shall have the interests of Hong Kong in mind in
our approach to the EEC.
