Mr. Royle is considering a trip to Asia in late September or early October. He has it in mind to visit Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong, and possibly also Indonesia, for a few days each. He would like to have a meeting of the Heads of Departments of each geo- graphical area, and to discuss this proposal and consider whether there are any other countries which he should try to visit, bearing in mind that he could not be away for more than three weeks at the outside. I suggest that this meeting might be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 15 July, and I should be grateful if the Heads of Department would confirm whether they will be able to attend at that time.

2.

I am copying this minute to Sir Stanley Tomlinson and Sir Leslie Monson, both of whom would be very welcome to attend the meeting if they have time.
