Thank you for your letter of 19 June.

As it happens, arrangements for a small exploratory mission, which the Export Group for the Constructional Industries has initiated and is sponsoring, are already at an advanced stage. Indeed, I think you will find that participation in it by bankers as well as industry and contractors has been settled. In the circumstances, if you want to pursue any possibility of participating, 1 suggest your best course is to contact Iain Ross, the Director of the EGCI.
3. We share your hope that this project may yield useful business for Britain and have welcomed the interest British industry is taking in it. Present inuications are that, once a decision to go ahead is taken, Hong Kong will put the scheme to international tender under a number of relatively small individual contracts, rather than place the whole scheme as a package with any one country. But the exploratory mission will naturally be probing this aspect particularly.

I am copying this letter to Tony Percival and to Wilford.
