70,000 SQUARE FEET CENTRAL DISTRICT SITE

Available For Sale Early Next Year

********

A central site fronting Harcourt Road between Murray Road and

Cotton Tree Drive and overlooking the Naval Dockyard and the harbour can

be available for sale in the first half of 1971.

The site has a total area of about 70,000 square feet, and is

being prepared for sale in one piece, or if applied for, in two separate

lots, one of 36,000 and one of 34,000 square feet.

It would be put up for sale by public auction early next year if an

applicant is prepared to deposit $50,000 as a guarantee that he will bid the

upset price.

A multi-storey car park for 1,000 cars will be built adjacent and

to the south of it.

"It has been decided to vary the terms of payment which were

introduced a little over a year ago by which payment could be made in ten

instalments over a ten-year period frce of interest, which applied to the

sale of two valuable lots, one of 48,850 square feet at the junction of

Nathan and Salisbury roads, and the other of 53,000 square foot at the

Central Reclamation, #* a government spokesman said today.

"For the sale of this and future sites with an upset price of $10

million or more, interest at 10 per cent per annum will be charged where

purchasers elect to pay premium by instalments. The option to pay premium

by 10 instalments is retained."
