DRAFT UNDERTAKING

In consideration of Hong Kong Government refraining from proceeding

with copyright legislation which contains provisions to which we

have made known our objections, we undertake on behalf of our

Hong Kong subsidiary, Rediffusion (Hong Kong) Limited, that they

will not, hereafter and until 30th April 1973, relay any broadcasts

of Television Broadcasts Limited.

This undertaking is conditioned by the following:

We would wish, on an experimental basis, to relay the

broadcasts of Television Broadcasts Limited in certain

limited buildings or groups of buildings, to be agreed

with Government. Such an experiment would provide

information which could be most useful to Government as

well as to Rediffusion and Television Broadcasts Limited

in any long term planning.

This undertaking in no way affects the position of

Rediffusion (Hong Kong) Limited in relation to CATV

operations.

iii) This undertaking in no way prejudices such claim, if any,

as Rediffusion (Hong Kong) Limited might have for

compensation for effective prevention of the free exercise

of relay rights from 1967 to date.
