Her Majesty The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Mr A. D. Scholes as ruisne Judge in Hong Kong.

Mr Alwyn Denton Scholes was born in Bournemouth on December 16, 1910 and educated at Cheltenham College and Selwyn College, Cambridge. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1934 and entered the Colonial Legal Service as a District Magistrate in the Gold Coast in 1938. transferred as a Magistrate in Hong Kong in 1948 and appointed District Judge in 1953. He was promoted to Puisne Judge in 1959
