I attach an extract of a letter of 11 March that I have

received from the Chief Justice of Hong Kong. No action

is called for as the extract is merely an advance warning

that I may expect to receive from the Chief Justice fairly

soon a considered proposal that District Judges should give

an undertaking not to practise in Hong Kong after retirement.

The issue has already been raised on HKK.14/19 in connection

with Mr. J.T. Williams' application, which has now been

abandoned. :
