Hong Kong telegram No. 162 attached referes to Sir Lesly Monson's letter to the Governor of 2nd February.

2. You wrote to the Ministry of Defence on 18th February asking them to provide the information requested by the Governor in his letter. We have as yet had no reply from the Ministry of Defence but I telephoned Mr. Davis two or three days ago and enquired when we might expect to redive the desired information. He said that he hoped to be able to let us have it by the end of this week and that the delay had been due to efforts by those concerned to provide precise figures than was at present possible. Mr. Davis also said that he would leave it to us to pass on the information to the Governor when we got it, although the Ministry of Defence would at the same time pass it on to their local representatives in Hong Kong.
