Report by the Defence Policy Staff

1. In accordance with the instructions (1) of the Chief of the Defence Staff, we have undertaken a study of the reinforcement of the Hong Kong Garrison.

2. We have consulted the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Our report is at Annex A.

Recommendation

3. We recommend that, if they approve our report, the Chiefs of Staff should forward it to the Secretary of State for his

information.
