A THREE POWER INTEGRATED ANZUK SYSTEM

14. Excluding the lemonts tasked for air defence, the rust of the ANZUK fores could be incorporated int. an integrated throu power command structure. This would wako possible the maximum degros of logistic and administr tive integration; savings in steffs;

and concny in headquarters and communication facilities. It would enable the forces of the three external porers to achiovo Wo the maximum coordination in training and exercise programmes. believe it would also mout the wishes of Australia and New Zealand (2). Provided suitablo liaison and consultative military links word established with the Malaysian and Singapore mi ̈itary command structurus, it would represent the simplest and most effective way of providing a command structure for the throw external forces within the context of five power defence arrangements.

This would have the advantago of giving an added raison d'etre for the ANZUK COS organisation and, because the secretariat will be in Canberra, giving a leading position to Australia. The alternativ. would be for the JFC to be reponsible to the three Chiefs of Defence Staff individually, which would be more cumbersome and less clficient.
