Since I sent you my general round-up letter of 5 February on the subject of helicopters and visits of RAF combat aircraft to Hong Kong, the Ministry of Defence have sent us the following information about costs in connection with the deployment to Hong Kong of the four additional helicopters,
The additional costs which the Ministry will be bearing in the coming year on this account have been calculated as £194,000, including £43,000 in local expenditure. These estimates have been calculated on the same basis as that used in the table enclosed with Sir Leslie Monson's letter to you of 9 October about the negotiation of the post-1971 defence contribution.

It would be helpful if you could let us have an indication of when you expect to be in a position to reply to Sir Leslie's letter in question.
