size of the Hong Kong garrison of any continuing land force presence

in Singapore and Brunei.

ASSUMPTIONS

3.

It is assumed that after 1971:

a. One British battalion group will be stationed in

Singapore on accompanied service. It will be part of an

ANZUK land force.

b.

One Gurkha battalion will be stationed in Brunci on

accompanied service. The total cost of this battalion

will be met by the Sultan of Brunei.

C.

The Brigade of Gurkhas will remain in being in the

foreseeable future at a strength of 5 Battalions (3).
