Mr. Bottomley Botto
Consultations with Hong Kong
I am enclosing your copy of a Note amending in certain
respects the arrangements for these talks.
2. Subject to confirmation when the Hong Kong delegation arrive provisional arrangements have been made for the meeting in your room at 11.15 a.m. on Wednesday 25 November for the
discussion on the US Trade Bill and the US/Japan textile
talks. The experts on these subjects are in Division 5 of Commercial Relations and Exports of the Department of Trade and Industry and they will send a representative to the meeting, probably Mr. Inglefield (Mr. Nicoll, the Head of the Department, will be in North America at the time). A state-
ment of the up-to-date position will be prepared by the
DTI next Tuesday. A note-taker will be available.
3. I have told Mr. Sellers of the Hong Kong Government Office what we have in mind and he thinks that the Hong Kong
representatives would probably be Sir John Cowperthwaite,
Mr. Cater and Mr. Jones.
