Mr Rippon wrote on 13 August to the Chairman of the

Hong Kong Association in London, agreeing to meet a deputation

from the Association at allater date to discuss the questions

for Hong Kong raised by our entry to the EEC. It was not possible

at the time of writing to suggest a date for the meeting but

Mr Rippon promised to write again and propose a date, probably

in early October.

2. I submit a draft letter suggesting 22 October as a

possible date, when I believe Mr Rippon will be free to see

the Association at 5 p.m.
