appointment to Hong Kong Department but this is, I am afraid, only too typical of the tendency of Government Departments at home to forget about our existence. is understandable as a) we are in a British Colony and, therefore, overshadowed by the Colonial Government and b) we are primarily a commercial office and it is not, therefore, always realised that we have general Information functions as well, functions which, of course, the Hong Kong Government Information Services cannot, for obvious reasons, perform.

I should be most grateful for anything you could do to ensure that we are kept informed of what is happening in connection with Hong Kong/U.K. relations.
