Fourth Session (Statistical Sub-Committee)

126.

Resuming the discussion on shirts, Baron de Geer called upon Mr. Henriksson to report his findings on the apparent dis- crepancies in production statistics mentioned by the Hong Kong Delegation. According to Mr. Henriksson, the cause of the discrepancies was the inclusion of "ladies' shirts" produced for the Swedish defence forces. He then presented the following revised figures :

Cotton shirts, knitted or crocheted (Cotton Group

item 1)

1968

158

1969

Baron de Ceer added that he had been unable to obtain information on the export prices of wedish shirts but if such information was essential to Tong Kong, he would endeavour to acquire this on his return to Sweden.

128.

Mr. To pointed out that there were also some slight variations in trade figures :

Experts

Imports

Figures arrived at from the 4 individual tables

1969 : 8,872

Overall figures

978

1,034

6,414

6,883

8,791

Mr. Henriksson said this might be due to some slight classification variations in the computation by the Swedish Customs authorities.

129. Commenting on the revised production statistics, Mr. Ho said that he had a few points to make. He observed that, prior to the rvision, the figures shoved a rise in production between 1968 to 1969 of about 1,000 pieces whercas the revised figures, having excluded women's shirts, vent slightly the other way; but certain shirts did not appear to have been included in the table. said that the revised figures covered all men's shirts.
