I suggest that paragraph 2 of the draft telegram be amended as follows:-

(a) insert "first year" before "car" at the end of line

3 of paragraph 2;

(b) in first two lines at the top of page 2 delete

"but we are not aware that the Japanese are particularly perturbed by this" and substitute

'or possibly to legislative provisions requiring bus companies to buy British vehicles, but these are hardly tariff arrangements".";

(c) amend sentence beginning "We believe that it is

true that the yen... 11 to read "We fail to see how the use of the yen in Hong Kong could have a significant effect on Japanese trade.";

(a) in next sentence substitute "your strict certificate

of origin procedure" for "the strict certificate of origin procedure".
