DEPUTIES MEETING: 3/4 NOVEMBER, 1970

We' have stated our

disappointment

Community's reservation on association for

Hong Kong

important that we

should have an early discussion of the issues

involved. It would be useful if you could

provide us with a detailed statement of the

problems you foresee.

2. We hope that it will be possible to

present us with such a statement at the next

Deputies meeting. We are intending to have

talks with Hong Kong officials in London on

this issue on 23/25 November. It would be

most useful/if, during these talks, we would

be in a position to conduct an informed review

of the whole situation with Hong Kong officials,

based on a Community statement and our own
