I do apologise for the long delay in replying to your letter of 18 September where you asked for information concerning a newscast put out by RTV Hong Kong.

In answer to your query, the assertion made by RTV Hong Kong that we disapprove of Malaysia's application for associated membership of the EEC, would seem to be based on the view that a Trade Agreement with the EEC would be the best solution for Malaysia. The reasons for this are purely practical ones, including the views of the Six.
