Resolution concerning violation of trade union rights in Hong Kong

Right to Strike and Picket
The 32nd meeting of the Executive Board of the TCFTU Asian Degional Organisation, meting in Djakarta from 10-12 September
1970, having heard a report on the recent restrictions of trede union rights in Hong Kong, and
Having expressed support for the resolution on the "Right to Strike and Picket" which was adopted by the 18th Convention of the Hongkong & Kowloon Trades Union Council (Hong Kong, 6 September 1970);
EXPRESSES concern about the recent restrictions of
basic trade union rights in Hong Kong, such as the exercise of the right to picket and the right to strike;
EMPHASISES the full soliderity of workers throughout
Asia with the efforts of the working people of Hong. Kong to have the trade union restrictive measures introduced by the cuthorities in direct contradiction with the universally accepted principles of the ILO covering trade union rights to be amended without delay;
CALLS on the Government of Hong Kong to nstruct the
police not to introne in industriel di putes unless there is a grave danger to public order and to revise the laws governing the right to strike and picketing along the lines of the rolution which was adopted by the Honghong & Kowloon Trades Union Council on 6 September;
INSTRUCTS the Regional Secr.bury to submit this
resolution together with a copy of the resolution adopted by the Hongkong & Howloon Trades Union Council to the Hong Kong Government, as well as the British TUC, the ICPTU and the ILO, suggesting for their intervention.
