An exemption order might permit departures from the restrictions mentioned in paragraph 2(a) of your letter as well as permitting night work. Regarding paragraph2(b), the fact that only a few women were involved, or that the supervisor was a man, would not be an obstacle to making an exemption order allowing night work and it is not the practice for such orders to impose any medical stipulations relating to sickness or pregnancy. There would be no objection to night work without provision for rotation."o.
In conclusion perhaps I should say that whilst we feel that our practice as I have outlined it is right in the prevailing social and economic conditions in this country, we could not of course express any view as to whether they would be suitable for the no doubt very different conditions in Hong Kong.
