Tho ago of omployment of young poople in licensed promises was
effectively controlled at prosent by conditions attached to liconcos, but
this system would be superceded by the Dutiable Commodities (Liquour)
Rogulations 1970 which imposed moro stringent conditions.
Those rogulations were approved in April this year when it was
announced that it was intended to bring thom into full effect in about
six months.
"Until such time as it is possible to introduce compusory education
in Hong Kong, logislation will continue to be selective," the Commissioner
said.
"The Labour Department keeps a constant watch on all cases of
child employment which are brought to its notice with the view to considering
what, if any, selective protective legislation would be justifiod."
