and cleanliness are up to satisfactory standards.

Number of Firms eligible to apply for permission to employ women

on night work

There are some 14,500 industrial concerns in Hong Kong.

the Commissioner of Labour calculated that at the end of

December 1969, 117 firms only would be eligible to apply for

permission to employ women on night work.

Number of women involved

There are 114,181 women employed in the textile industry

as a whole. The number covered by the two permits granted is

a very small percentage of this.
