(iii) Clause XXXII

The proposed amendment will revoke the existing provision, which requires appointments by the Governor to be during pleasure. Article XIV of the Letters Patent already provides that Judges and other officers shall hold their offices during pleasure, so that the existing clause is redundant.

B. Letters Patent

(i) Article XIV

The proposed amendment will simplify the wording of the existing provision. It includes the term "public officers", which is used in local legislation.

(ii) Article XV

The existing provision enables a pardon to be granted either free or subject to lawful conditions. But there is no power to remit a sentence subject to such conditions as the Governor thinks fit to impose. The proposed amendment will enable both a pardon and a remission of sentence to be granted either free or subject to conditions.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient, humble servant,

में

Heuch.

GOVERNOR
