I still owe you a lunch.
I'm far from clear, but my last week or so in London flashed by so quickly; and, before I knew it, I was on the plane heading back here. I hope you will forgive me and accept my sincere thanks for the arrange- ments you made for my two months in London. I feel very refreshed, as a result, and am most grateful to you for the trouble you went to. I look forward to next May and, although I doubt whether I shall be able to manage the Hong Kong economy in the 70s as success- fully as John Cowperthwaite in the 60s, I shall do my best.
