Hong Kong telegrams No. 405 and 406. I see from the latest LIC report that the two antique cannon unearthed in the Walled City in the middle of June were judged to be of insufficient historical interest to warrant the fuss

which their removal would have caused I assume that they have simply been left in the ground, but I should be grateful if you would confirm this for the record. Incidentally, purely for the sake of curiosity, we should be interested to know what the Hong Kong antiquarians made of the dating and provenance of the cannon.
