Sick Confrontation Prisoners in Hong Kong
Mr. Royle suggested at his meeting on 26 October that,
in the light of Mr. Crouch's prompt release, we should
telegraph the Acting Governor in Hong Kong to propose that,
if approved, the release of the second batch of three sick
prisoners (Hong Kong telegram No. 704) should preferably
take place at the end of next week. I submit a draft
telegram on these lines. Hong Kong Department agree.
2. Mr. Maddocks' letter of 21 October, attached, is
relevant.
