I am the Chief Officer of Stanley Prison. The deceased Tang Chuen
was convicted on unlawful assembly and riot on 10th August, 1967 and 13th
September, 1967 respectively. I produce the Warrant of Commitment and
certificate of sentences.

On the 1st conviction, he was sentenced to 2 years and the
second conviction 4 years. The second sentence was subsequently reduced
to 3 years on the Governor's Warrant. I produce this Warrant.

On 16/9/67, the deceased was transferred to Stanley Prison.
He was remained there until December, 1969.
On 8/12/69, he reported sick and the Medical Officer Dr. Thomas
admitted him to Stanley Prison Hospital for treatment.
On 20/12/69 his condition was such that he was transferred
to Queen Mary Hospital where he subsequently died on 29th December, 1969
at 2. 10 a.m. I identified the body of the deceased in Queen Mary Hospital
Mortuary the same day at 2.20 p.m. in the presence of Dr. S.P. Chiu, the
Pathologist. To my knowledge, the deceased had never complained to me
about any illness.

I do not know, to my
knowledge whether the deceased was sick in middle of November, 1969
but the Medical Officer can give evidence.
