I have the honour to inform you that I have appointed Mr. E. I. Lee, J. P., provisionally and subject to Her Majesty's pleasure, to be an Official Member of the Legislative Council from 25th November 1970 during the absence from the Colony of Mr. J. Cater, M. B. E., J. P.

Mr. Lee's current substantive appointment is Deputy Director of Commerce and Industry and he has been appointed to act in the post of Director during Mr. Cater's absence.

Copies of the Instrument of Appointment in respect of Mr. Lee and of the Gazette Notice promulgating his appointment are attached.
