A Government spoke sman said today the machinery proposed, though

extensive, was comparatively simple in design, well-proven and robust.

They would consist basically of storage slides for bags, chutes, horizontal

and vertical conveyors, some with selective outlets designed to drop loads

at appropriate work points.

The building, including lifts, escalators, air-conditioning,

burglar and fire alarms, will cost more than $12.7 million Mechanisation,

within and outside the premises and engineering works will take up another

$8.7 million.

ACTING SECRETARY FOR HOME AFFAIRS

Mr. Bray Sworn In

Mr. D.C. Bray was sworn in as Acting Secretary for Home Affairs

in the Executive Council today.

He succeeds Mr. Paul Tsui Ka-cheung, who will be taking over the

post of Commissioner for Resettlement from Mr. J.P. Aserappa.
