It appears that the OSAS share of annual recurrent pensions including an CSAS element at 1.7.68 was

(This would be calculated on the existing formula related to proportionate aggregate pensionable emoluments). The OSAS share of commuted pension gratuities paid since OSAS commenced must have been fractionally less since the percentage would rise with the later retirements and some who retired shortly after 1.4.61 with low CSAS shares of recurrent pensions and commuted pension gratuities would have died. A fraction of 81% has therefore been assumed. total non-OSAS share of commuted pension gratuities paid by the Tanzanian Government up to 30.6.68 was £3,603,498. The whole (ie including OSAS share)
should therefore be approximately £3,938,000.
