Persons who normally reside in Hong Kong

may find themselves abroad when these measures are

introduced and may approach visa posts for advice.

For the period up to 1st October 1969 arrangements have been made in Hong Kong for the issue of visas

to such persons on their arrival, after the controls

have been imposed. To avoid embarrassment or delay, Visa Officers may up to 1st October 1969

issue visas to such persons without reference, provided they are satisfied that the applicant normally resides in Hong Kong. Such visas should be endorsed "entry returning resident".

NOTE If the passport contains a "visa applied

for Hong Kong" endorsement, this will

normally indicate that it is the intention

of the Hong Kong authorities to exclude

the holder, and therefore, despite the fact that he/she appears to have been

Director of Immigration.
