The Council ADVISED and the/Governor ORDERED :

(a) that the Frevention of Bribery Bill 1969, is

in the form in which it should be introduced

into the Legislative Council, subject to the

following -

(i) the definition of "Director" in clause 2(i)

of the Bill to be amended to read:

?? ...means the officer for the time being

in charge of the Anti-Corruption Branch";

(ii) clause 10 to be so amended as to indicate that no

offence is committed provided that a satisfactory

(iii)

explanation is forthcoming of the source of the

pecuniary resources, property or standard of livin;

clause 14(1)(f) to be amended to make

it clear that the spouse, parents or

children must also be identified in the

notice;

(iv)

clause 26 to be amended to empower the

court to award costs not exceeding ten

thousand dollars, which should be a charge on the

general revenue; and

(v)

the Schedule to the Bill to be expanded to

include the Hong Kong Housing Authority,

the Hong Kong Housing Society, and the Hong

Kong Settlers' Housing Corporation, and

further consideration to be given to including

other bodies in the Schedule; and

that a paper on the composition of the Target

Committee together with suggestions for including

its non-Police membership should be prepared for consideration by Council.
