Sir Ivo Charles Clayton Rigby
Sir Ivo Rigby who was born on 2 June, 1911, was
educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford. He was
called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in June 1932, and
practised in London until Cctober 1935. In that month he was appointed to the Colonial Legal Service and posted
to The Gambia as a Police Magistrate. In 1930 he was
transferred to Palestine as a Chief Magistrate and promoted
to Crown Council in 1942, and to President, District Court
in 1946. He vas again transferred in 1948, to Nyasaland as
an Assistant Judge, and in November 1954 he became President
of the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur, Federation of Malaya.
During 1956 he acted as a Puisne Judge and was confirmed in this post during 1957. Since August 1961 he has served in Hong Kong as Senior Puisne Judge, and has frequently acted as
Chief Justice.
